Who Is Getting $63,398.25 From the Croton Schools?

John Palladino, owner of 365-369 South Riverside, otherwise known as Croton Dodge and Perfect 10 Salon, has filed for tax relief from the Town of Cortlandt and the Croton-Harmon School District.  The District alone has to come up with $63,398.25 to pay back Mr. Palladino as his property has lost value.  Perhaps this because these 2 lots were allowed to lie fallow and the Clifford Harmon sales office that is now Perfect 10 looks like it has had virtually no upkeep invested in it.  The amount to be returned to Mr. Palladino is actually more money than a teacher’s salary (see item X, below).

Please see item XIII, section 5.

WatchCroton is saddened that a property owner has let highly visible village properties go to waste and is now reaping the rewards of his neglect.  Wonder how much the Village of Croton is on the hook for?

No one ever said Mr. Palladino was anyone’s fool and that he didn’t know how to get the biggest bang for his buck. With lower taxes on his still vacant property, he is in the cat bird seat. He’ll save money on taxes (a whole lot of money to most of us!) and will sell his properties for much more than he could ever have realized till now. And hey, who knows, maybe he’ll even sell it to an entrepreneur to build a great new mixed use building wutg retail on the street level and a few nice apartments above.

The high price of doing nothing!

Does anyone have an update on the Aricle78?

I think you’ll have to go to Kevin Davis for an answer to that one.

OH! Imagine a lovely 2 or 3 story building there, filled with activity! What an improvement. Perhaps we need to re-examine the tax grievance process; this doesn’t seem a reasonable or responsible decision on the face of it.
