Work Session of the Village Board

7: 30 p.m.

(Open to Public  –  Not Televised)

  1. First Night Proposal.   A proposal from a group of Croton residents called The Croton Creative Network, was submitted by Mario Giacalone.  The group proposes that a New Year’s Eve event, called First Night in Croton, be organized with events for families, teenagers, adults, and seniors to be held at various locations on that evening.  The Board will further discuss this proposal with the members of the group.
  2. FEMA Flood Maps.  FEMA has provided Croton with new Advisory Base Flood Elevation (ABFE) maps updating BFEs that were created up to 25 years ago.  The base elevations in Croton along the Hudson and Croton Rivers have been increased significantly in these maps.  FEMA wants communities to adopt the ABFEs and require their use in future development.  FEMA also has a Community Rating System in which a community can receive credit for adopting standards higher than the National Flood Insurance minimum.  This can result in discounts for insurance policy holders in high-risk areas.  Trustees will discuss the implications of the new maps and the Community Rating System.
  3. 9-11 Memorial Update.  Janet Mainiero will provide the Board with an update on the 9-11 Memorial Phase 1 and plans for moving ahead with Phase 2.
