Decoding Village Agendas – September 8, 2014

September 6, 2014

Work Session of the Village Board

7: 30 p.m.

(Open to Public  –  Not Televised)

  1. Discussion on funding cost of the Dare Program for the 2014-2015 Fiscal Year.   The Village Police Dept. have funded a DARE officer for many years.  The program provided  drug awareness education at multiple grade levels in the Croton Harmon Schools.  The officer has recently retired.
  2. Discussion regarding the creation of a pilot  Love ‘Em and Leave ‘Em program in the Village.   For several years the Village has informally encouraged residents to mulch their fall leaves in place rather than rake them up for collection.  The benefits include a healthier lawn savings of time and effort and reduction in the need for leaf collection by the DPW.  The discussion will be on stepping up the village’s commitment to this idea by running a pilot program to measure effectiveness.  Several municipalities in Westchester  already endorse this approach to leaf collection with successful results.
  3. Discussion regarding webstreaming options.  The Village currently webstreams it regular Village Board meetings.  A contract renewal with the provider and equipment that is now obsolete have led the staff to consider an alternative provider. The discussion will consider the pros and cons of remaining with the current provider (Granicus) or switching to a new provider (Earth Channel).
