Heading Into Village Election Season

September 10, 2014

Now that the NYS 2014 primary races are a thing of the past, it’s time to start considering who you will support in the Village of Croton Board of Trustee elections.

Two 2 year terms and one 1 year term are being contested by seven Village residents.

The single year term became available after former Trustee Casey Raskob stepped down after only one year and Maria Slippen took over as trustee via mayoral appointment.

Croton United is running John Brijeski and Virginia Calcutti for the 2 year term seats and Robert Anderson is running for the 1 year seat.

TeamCroton is running incumbent Ann Gallelli and Brian Pugh for the 2 year term seats and Maria Slippen will run for the 1 year remaining in her Trustee term.

Croton volunteer fireman Kevin McClone is running independently for a 2 year seat.

Voter turnout for the primary elections was modest in the village.  WatchCroton hopes all residents will take time to participate in democracy on November 4th.

Interesting in an election year where sentiment for Democratic candidates is largely negative, that the Croton Democratic Party ticket is being marketed as the non aligned “Team Croton”. Certainly a calculated, deceptive move on the part of Croton Dems that really is not necessary. The Croton United slate has a snowballs chance in hell to get elected. Croton United is led by Roseanne Schuyler, one of the most polarizing political operatives Croton has ever seen, and the electorate is wise to her. The Croton United candidate slate is weak and has yet to communicate a meaningful platform of any kind.
