Three Vendors Join Croton-on-Hudson Farmers Market this Sunday

October 17, 2014

Happy Autumn! It’s Nicole from Down to Earth Markets, the crew that manages the Croton-on-Hudson Farmers Market.

This is a gorgeous time of year at the market, and I wanted to share a few updates for this Sunday.

Newgate Farms wrote in this week that they will bring “Sugar Pumpkins” to Croton. Ask Farmer Judy about them!

Also, Madura Farms will have a wide selection of pepper varieties. Sounds perfect for Sofrito – which freezes well and can be used as a starter for soups, casseroles, etc. all year around.

Wave Hill Breads is bringing their new pumpernickel bread, along with all their other delicious breads. YUM.

The market has three new vendors this week, too:

1- Trotta Foods – They are confirmed to be at the market every Sunday from now until the end of the season onNovember 23rd. This is a family-owned business that makes incredible Italian foods, such as fresh cheeses and seasonal pasta. Their menu items include things like pumpkin ravioli, jars of fire-roasted peppers, and more. Their menu is based in what’s in season and it changes often.

2 – Taiim Falafel Shack – Owner Zamir describes their menu as “Israeli soul food.” They make amazing hummus varieties, falafel, babaganoush, and more. They will be in Croton this Sunday and then every other Sunday from now until 11/23.

3 – Sisters Wicked Good Soap – Help us welcome them as a day vendor in Croton this Sunday. This may be their only appearance at the market this season, so be sure to check out their soaps. [Secret ingredient: goat’s milk]

Thank you all for supporting local farmers and food makers at the market every Sunday. We’re open from 9 am to 2 pmand located in the municipal parking lot, off the the Route 9 exit. Enjoy! – Nicole
