Croton Yacht Club – Hudson River Educational Seminars

The Croton Yacht Club will be hosting its annual Hudson River educational seminars on Friday March 20st and Friday April 3rd starting at 7:30 PM. This year’s seminar topics include “An Evening with Chris Letts” and a presentation by NYSDEC Fisheries Biologist Amanda Higgs. These events are free of charge and open to the public. Please come out and join us in an evening guaranteed to be educational and entertaining.

An Evening with Chris Letts

The Croton Yacht Club is again privileged and honored to present and evening with Chris Letts on Friday March 20st starting at 7:30PM. Longtime educator for  organizations such as the Hudson River Foundation and the Clearwater, Chris Letts has spent decades working on the Hudson as a commercial fisherman, researcher and teacher. In an intimate and interactive setting, Chris will share his extensive knowledge about Hudson River fish and the importance of the local ecosystem on the health and future of this great fishery. Do not miss this opportunity to interact with and lean form one of the last true Hudson Rivermen.

Hudson River Fisheries Management

On Friday April 3rd starting at 7:30 PM at the Croton Yacht Club, Amanda Higgs, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Fisheries Biologist, Hudson River Estuary Program/Cornell DNR will speak about how data collection is done by the Hudson River Fisheries Unit to help manage the signature fish species (striped bass, American shad, river herring and Atlantic Sturgeon) in the Hudson River. Amanda has been working at the Hudson River Fisheries for over 15 years and manages the sonic tracking projects for Atlantic sturgeon, short-nose sturgeon and American shad.
