After The Snow – A Note From the Croton FD

January 25, 2016
by

Now that the snow has stopped falling, we urge all “Crotonites” to get out there and clear the snow around any fire hydrants adjacent to their property.
Most hydrants only take 5-10 minutes to effectively dig out. Imagine how much worse a fire can get in that time if we have to commit members to this task while a building is ablaze?
Also, if you own a home or business, be sure to clear the snow around any heating system air intakes and vents. This is also important to do around dryer vents, as inadequate ventilation can cause equipment to malfunction, potentially creating a Carbon Monoxide issue within the building.
If you have any questions or concerns, call us at (914) 271-2693 or email info@crotonfd.org.
