What’s That Smell?

Another local blog has been all over this like stink on, well, you know. But we thought we would post this anyway.

From the Croton Fire Department FB page:

We have received dozens of inquiries from the public, media and many of our followers here on the CFD’s Facebook Page pertaining to the mystery odor around the southern end of our village.

The following information is from the Village of Croton-on-Hudson Facebook page, and is being shared thanks to Village Manager Janine King.

“The Village is aware of the odor that has been present over the past couple of days. The Engineering Dept. and DPW have examined Village infrastructure, and found no probable cause for the smell. Furthermore, we’ve conducted outreach to Con Ed, Metro North, CSX, Historic Hudson Valley, the Westchester County Health Department and others to inquire about any recent activities that may have led to the odor.

At this point, none of these agencies/organizations have identified a potential source, but we will continue to investigate. If you continue to smell the odor or have any questions, please feel free to contact the Village at 914-271-4848.”

Further, Village Manager King reports that Quest Environmental has been called in to assist with this investigation.

Additional information from Chief Mansfield and the Village will be available later tonight or tomorrow.

Like always, we will continue to keep you informed of this situation. Should you think you have a hazardous or emergent condition that requires the assistance of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department, please do not hesitate to call 9-1-1.

Thank you.
