UPDATE: To All Mothers and More…

Parents score victory in retaining privacy for children!  Our local political committee has replaced its Facebook  cover photo of innocent children unwittingly photographed for campaign purposes with a photo of adults shopping at opening day of the farmer’s market. Unless folks were asked by the photographer who identifies himself as the  snapper for this committee as well as for the committee’s local online mouthpiece, it’s still not OK.  If you do not support these folks, why on earth would you be OK with having your image on their page, much less as their cover photo?

Did you know your children are being exploited:

ex·ploit
make full use of and derive benefit from (a resource).
“500 companies sprang up to exploit this new technology”
synonyms: utilize, harness, use, make use of, turn/put to good use, make the most of, capitalize on, benefit from; informal: cash in on
“we should exploit this new technology”
use (a situation or person) in an unfair or selfish way.
“the company was exploiting a legal loophole”

by a political committee’s Facebook page?

Were you asked for permission?  I’m sure they would love to hear from you, in the interest of transparency. WatchCroton finds it hard to believe that parents are OK with letting their child’s image be used without their permission, especially by a political committee.  Responsible community organizations ask explicitly for parental permission or have parents sign a waiver.

Happy Mother’s Day to moms and those who mother.  It’s a parent’s job to keep kids safe and that job never takes a holiday.

Please explain how they’re being “exploited”. While I may not be a personal fan of our current mayor, I see nothing to indicate any malicious intent on the page you’re referring to. – Matter of fact, it looks great! It looks exactly like what they’re aiming for: a “united Croton” – not a divided one.
