May 13, Greenburgh Library
State Assemblywoman Sandy Galef will discuss “Why Can’t New York Reform Its Election Laws” at a program sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Westchester on Saturday, May 13, 10:30 a.m at the Greenburgh Library, 300 Tarrytown Road (Route 119), Elmsford.
Currently, there are 16 election law reform bills in the state legislature, including a comprehensive package of reform bills from the State Attorney General, to update laws widely considered out-of-date. Ms. Galef will discuss the proposals and the obstacles in their path.
Some of the proposals include early voting, same day voter registration, automatic voter registration, consolidation of local, state and federal primaries, and electronic record books for poll workers.
